Invitation to the Monthly Shrine Ceremony
Heian Jingu Shrine is widely revered as a general shrine of Kyoto citizens.
The HARUYA staff will guide you to the monthly ceremony on the 1st and 15th of each month.
A day starting from the morning shrine ceremony
The morning shrine is less crowded and has a calm time. In the Taiheikaku, a building relocated from the Kyoto Imperial Palace, we can sit back and feed the duck and coral, and when we look at Tsurushima and Kameshima in the pond, we will find a heron quietly. Although it is the center of Kyoto city, we can feel the nature at the landscape of Heian Jingu Shrine.
The garden, called the “Heian-no-Mori”, is built around the intricate roads and streams of the river, and is planted with about 180 kinds of Japanese plants described in literary books such as “Taketori Monogatari” and “Makurano Soshi”. We curious about what kind of plants we’ve never seen before. I think it’s special moment in the morning that we have calm time like this.
At HARUYA, we are now considering whether to create opportunities to guide guests to the historical shrines in Kyoto and Nara at the monthly ceremony. If we visit the Heian Jingu Shrine with the monthly ceremony and go to the shrine garden, we can take a walk with a refreshing feeling. I think the morning shrine is one of the best places to start a day in Kyoto.
