Torin-in Temple ‘The Red Bean Porridge Party’
It is a famous temple of Zen sect, representative of Kyoto · Myoshinji Temple.
“Torin-in” is in the premises where we can calmly and quietly spend. Commonly known as “Temple of SARASOUJYU”. In June, the white flower that was declared in the Heike story is blooming in the garden.
We can enjoy the new year’s celebration of Azuki porridge at “Torin-in” which is usually closed. It is said that if we get red bean porridge in the New Year, we will make the annual evil away and eliminate all sickness.
First of all, “SABA (raw rice)”, put rice porridge for wild birds to eat slightly from each bowl and put it in the garden.
In the garden there is a “Suikinkutu (水琴窟)”, when we listen to a bamboo cylinder, it sounds like a “KOTO (琴)”, it is extremely popular regardless of a couple, a child, a solo traveler.
When saying “Zen”, attention often tends to “organize a zazen”, but the most attractive point is to be able to reconfirm the significance of acts normally considered as commonplace.
What we can get is not only porridge but also a “devilish dish” set. “A party to celebrate the New Year with red beans porridge” is also recommended for those who “have never had a devilish dish”.
We can see beautiful manners like tea ceremony of a tea room in every move which carries a meal.
